    Cricket: the golden age

By Will 2 years ago, mid-June Leave a comment on this post

I was given an unexpected and absolutely brilliant present from a friend tonight. A weighty tome (promise never to use that expression ever again) of cricket photos stretching back to 1859; cricket, photos, what could be better? Regular visitors down the Corridor will know of my fascination of quirky cricket photos, many of which can be seen from yesteryear. It’s an absolutely brilliant book and I’d urge you to buy it immediately if you have any interest in either cricket or photography. Cricket on the streets, cricket during the war, Geoff Boycott DJing…it has everything, few of which you’ll ever have seen.

Thanks, Nat. I’ll shout you a guinness soon as!

Thanks for the tip Will. I’ve been tossing up whether to buy this book myself. Australian (and maybe other) readers might be interested to note that it (and several others on the important subject of cricket) can be found quite cheaply at Clouston and Hall.

No worries. It’s a brilliant book. Is there not an Amazon Australia then?

No there isn’t an Amazon in Australia. Although for reasons, as yet unexplained, it is often still about 50% cheaper to ship books from the US than to buy them in Australian book-stores. C&H are exception though, because they deal in unsold remainders, and are generally half-price or more.
