Cricket Match

Cricket in Paris (Parc de Bagatelle). If you click on the photo, you’ll see the photographer has kindly highlighted the ball and its role within the game.

Still confused about French cricket, ‘coz Richie Benaud’s their patron or something. So they can’t be that useless can they? Temptation to mention baguettes is overwhelming.

That bowler looks pretty handy .. I wonder if England has beaten them recently?

I haven’t seen much sign of Richie Benaud around here. It’s mostly expats who play cricket around Paris - mainly Sri Lankans and Pakistanis, though there’s one team of mainly Brits, Aussies and New Zealanders.

The French are a bit like a number of Americans I’ve met who think it must be a silly game if it lasts 5 days. British Airways did run a cricket-based ad campaign in France last year, which someone graciously captured on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/smudie/63162177/

The Parisians have one basic fault - they have not yet figured out that they should get the scorer blotto before, not after the game. This may explain why they lost by 8 wickets to the Bonn Veterans on 09.05.06.

    See my dire report here:
