    Help us. We’re bleeding boredom

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of April Leave a comment on this post

Jolly splendid teams though they are, me and my boss are absolutely suicidally bored watching South Africa against New Zealand. We would welcome any amusing tales, jokes, limericks. I’ve resorted to whistling Rolf Harris tunes (I only know one), and mumbling nonsense. To make matters worse, the bloody clouds have lifted here in London and it’s horribly blue and sunny outside. How dare it be so inviting.

Well, I am skiving writing by watching it - who is the “Hilton” bloke, obviously an older Saffer, doing commentary stints? His irrelvant drivel is far more entertaining than the game. Can’t find out who he is by googling or looking on cricinfo, doesn’t seem to have played Tests, if indeed his name is Hilton, but that what it sounds like they’ve called him four times.

Ahh Will, shurrrup! At least you and your boss are/were watching cricket! :)

My boss is a football fan and despises my cricket, the rotter. He is giving me the evil eye this month. Took today off to update my passport so I can get to England for the Sri Lanka Test in 10 days (more days off). I could tell you a funny story about that but it’s stumps in Cape Town now, so you’re probably no longer bored! Hope not!

I was enjoying the cricket today actually, though it was probably more because it was a distraction from working than anything else. Still, good to see two batsmen playing extremely well. It’s not often you get to see records “tumble”, so you’ve got to be pleased.

If I were Fleming, I’d carry on batting to let Franklin get his hundred. Then, the openers - who’d probably be expecting to bat straight off - would lose some of the concentration they’d built up through the night/morning. And Franklin gets the boost of getting a hundred (probably). Should be NZ’s game now, this.

Yes apologies for that post - I soon recovered to realise it was a good day’s play, not to mention a quite brilliant knock from Fleming. And Franklin too - what a surprise, and what class. He’s four away from a hundred…

Fleming was so lucky though. He should’ve been out on six. Would’ve made quite a difference to the final score if he had been given out….
