    England avoid 7-0 humiliation

By Will 2 years ago, mid-April Leave a comment on this post

“Seven nil, seven nil, seven nil…seven nil” was the widely expected chant to be heard ringing from the Indians but alas they’ll have to settle for 6-0. That’s assuming England don’t win the sixth or seventh one-dayer, which is a perfectly reasonable assumption. Yes, today, England avoided defeat thanks to perfect English conditions which suited their one-day game to a tea.

Not a ball was bowled thanks to the rain.

Some pretty horrible scenes after the game was abandoned, by all accounts. Hope no-one was seriously injured.

BCCI has been found lacking in this respect. The planning should be based on the ‘expected’ conditions at the time, not which venue has been waiting in the line to get a match. That can be done if the conditions are expected to be suitable. Any Indian worth his/her salt will know that rain is more than likely in Guwahati. Just the cost of moving the ODI circus to Guwahati, and back out again justifies planning effectively.

They believe in the ‘hot potato’ system. The match has been ‘given’ to Guwahati..and thus everything is their problem.

I believe it was Chandigarh ODI, which ended with in stampede injuring many. BCCI’s response: ‘Nothing do with us, the match has been ‘given’ to Chandigarh, we have nothing more to do with it….EXCEPT rake in the rupees!!!!

Transperancy and accountability needs to be implemented forthwith.
