The 1956 Australians in training

An interesting video of the Australia team in training at Lord’s during the 1956 Ashes. Led by Ian Johnson Australia lost the series 2-1. Towards the end of the video, you can see a very young Richie Benaud.

What strikes me most about the footage is how little things have changed, really…

    Heh. I read that as ‘one thousand nine hundred and fifty-six australians in training’.

    I thought, ‘that’s quite a lot’.

    Oh well!

    (Obviously slightly delirious from getting up early for the ODI after less than 2 hours sleep.)
