Think he heard you, Will. Aggers tells me he IS bowling round the wicket now.

Go around the fucking wicket Monty

He’s been bowling over the wicket for an hour now. How did he get Sachin out? AROUND the wicket. This fucking defensive line won’t get him any wickets. Pardon the language, but we can’t allow the negative rot to set in so early in a spinner’s career. Very impressed with him though. Accurate and intelligent bowler.
UPDATE: he’s gone around the wicket, tandem. I’ll calm down now.

It’s too late now, though. Kaif was struggling about 30 minutes ago, really scratching for runs. If Monty had attacked him from around the wicket, he would at least have troubled him (and his stumps) more often. Frustrating. I don’t blame the Monta, it’s Fletcher’s doing.

Spectacular workrate from Panesar. This is his 40th over, and he’s only gone for 67 runs. Gilo will be quaking in his boots for the summer and the Ashes tour.

I thought to myself before Monty was even picked that his first wicket wolud be Tendulker LBW, but I had Sachin on 143. Anyway more money lost, maybe Isholud take up gambling?
Anyway 19 maidens in 44 or so overs and two wickets is a good return, and for a player who is “hopeless” with the bat, he did very well indeed, sticking around to help Colly get his maiden 100.
If only I had SKY, shit coverage of cricket, but still, be good to see some cricket.

If only DSTV would show the bloody cricket…9 sports channels and none of them are broadcasting the tour!! There’s 2 sports channels and 3 normal viewing channels broadcasting the SA vs. Aus games!! WHY???

Monty Panesar is the newest in a very long and painful history of boring English spin bowlers. Just think about Underwood, Giles, Blackwell, Tufnell, Such, Croft, Dawson, Pocock, Illingworth, Miller, Batty and Titmus. They all bowl at the batmans pads, defensive tactics, they never take many wickets. Why happened to good English spinners like Emburey?

This comment must have passed me by. Justin, are you aware that you’ve elevated John Emburey above Derek Underwood?! “Deadly” was one of England’s finest…
