All of which makes Wasim Akram’s 916 international wickets pretty special. I think (not sure at all actually) that he holds the world record for a fast bowler.
1000 Murali wickets

I think it was Courtney Walsh who first broke through the 500-Test barrier and, at the time, I remember feeling utterly amazed that anyone could have got so far. I was equally doubtful that anyone would ever better it. Since then, Shane Warne and Muttiah Muraliatharan have waltzed past it as though it were nothing; Warne broke past 600 at Old Trafford in the summer. Today, though, Murali has gone past 1000 international wickets! It makes Walsh’s effort look pitiful and feeble*
Rather appropriately, his 100th wicket was controversial: “Khaled Mashud was given out caught when the ball only hit his pad” (S.Rajesh / Cricinfo)
* I am, of course, joking. It’s all very well for these glitzy spinners to take hundreds of wickets, but it’s all the more incredible for a fast bowler to manage it.

Though Shan Warn have surpassed all the legend bowlers in the cricket history but he is supposed to be a very lucky bowler to have great bowlers like McGrath,Gillispe,Bretllee etc who would alwaya provide a splendid start to Australia and would laid a solid foundation for Shan Warn to bowl confidently and get lots of middle and lower order batsmen out. On the other hand, Murlithurn has never had such a strong back up but he is maintaining a great strike rate and average.
I must concllude that Murlithurn is an everlasting hero and seats high in all kings of the cricketing world.

Murali is greater than warn. As he has responsibilty of striking bowler almost single handly while warn share the burden. Murali will cross all the records of warn sooner than later.
