Well, it takes our minds off the fact that as I write England are 38-8 in reply to India’s 250-odd, I suppose.
BBC close Test Match Special messageboard
By Will 4 years ago, mid-February Add your comment below
Just blogged this at the Surfer, and am posting it here very briefly – will comment on it later in the week when I have time, but it’s fairly big news. The BBC’s cricket messageboard, Test Match Special, has been closed due to a torrent of racist comments. The Times has more. Thoughts?

I’m not surprised Will to be honest. If anything, I’m surprised this didn’t happen earlier. I posted on the TMS boards when it initially started (had about 1000 odd posts) there, after which I gave up, because of the excessive tripe that people kept posting. It was always really, really poorly moderated.

Just a small point – it’s only the South Asian board that is closed, isn’t it?
I saw some of the vileness that has been posted there over the past few weeks, and the BBC were completely right to close it. The problem is is that boards with that number of members are almost completely impossible to moderate effectively if a section of the posters decides to behave that way. (Not that the BBC moderators were up to much before this happened, but that’s a subject for another day and another place).

Hardly surprising, this sort of thing used to crop up a lot on rec.sport.cricket, I guess nowadays the online forums are easier pickings.

aggers was talking about colin bell being a good nicker when he’s out for a duck. If he’s has bagged a pair would he be known as “a pair of nickers”?

once again arlo white shows he is not conversant with the english language. when bell was out he said the ball “span “into him. “span” is width or to bridge he meant spun ,he made the the same mistake during the first test match, as have other bbc commentors in other sports e.g. “hamilton span off the track”
loya tms listeners don t want arlo white. he isnt crickrt orientated.please find someone who knows about the game and can speak english!

How you think when the economic crisis will end? I wish to make statistics of independent opinions!
