Umm Will, could you spot any Germans there? I could only spot sub-continentals!

Germans playing cricket

The notion that Germans play cricket is laughable enough (oh come on, admit it! **), but this photo rather takes the biscuit. In an indoor tournament in Dortmund, a bloke is seen trying to will the lost ball down from the roof. Great shot!
** After my last tongue-in-cheek remark about the female form, a week ago, I’m rather reticent about posting my honest opinions on this blog. But it won’t stop me. I do, of course, support all cricket from all nations. I’m British, and we tend to find Germans rather amusing. It’s a two-way street - they find us equally funny.

aha! These Dortmund boys might have better suntans than your average Hun but they have German passports or permanent stay-permits otherwise they are not allowed to play in the Leagues, State or national teams.
We also have a sprinkling of Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and Irish ex-pats and a mean fast-bowler from Jamaica. Oh, and some Germans.
To the left of the photographer (wasn’t me) was the Düsseldorf camp, and the departing batsman, Dennis of Oldenburg, all of whom are coloured players. By this I mean, they are white at the start of the season, pink after 3 matches, burned red by August, grey when LBWed, and green when they lose
And Will, no fear, we laughed! Just brilliant to see one of our pics on CoU. Getting that ball back was a nightmare. And very funny. The pole was so wobbly.

I’ve always thought that if the Germans ever took up cricket, they’d be brilliant at it.
