Dear God, what levels I have sunk to. I promise, one day, I’ll resume writing on this blog and not swearing profusely. Or posting pictures of massively attractive bok women.

But wait, look! More cheerleaders at the cricket! Can’t see the MCC or Lord’s being persuaded though, can you?

About five years ago I remember observing that the typical female audiences at Aus/SA games were young and invariably scantily clad whereas at England games it was more "grandma & her knitting".

Since then of course English cricket got, for want of a better word, sexy and the twentysomething (and younger) female audiences are a very welcome addition to the crowds in my view (with the exception of the "gels" who treat Lords as a Henley or an Ascot).

To be honest, I laughed when I saw the photo. No offense taken. Most of the best bloopers in cricket are loosely based jokes on sex and I find them funny too. Maybe I'm odd.

I once took my top off at a game and stopped play. Mind you, I did have a beetle in my bra and the club players fell about with laughter. If I blogged about my womens cricket, I'd have the whole world laughing at me, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet! ;)

To put this issue in perspective, a couple years ago I opened up a copy of "The Cricketer" I'd bought and discovered that it contained a near-nude photo of a male cricketer (Jim Troughton, I think, covered with nothing but strategically placed batting gloves, which his fully clothed wife was wearing while standing next to him). Not my cup of tea, really, but I didn't get angry about it.

In a way I think the cherleader photos are more relevant than this photo was, because while Troughton is a genuine cricket athlete, the photo was not of something one is likely to see at a cricket match. If one goes to a Nashua Titans cricket match in South Africa, one presumably will see what was posted to this blog. Fair game, in my mind.

While Jess may have a point about the lack of coverage of women's cricket here, there's a whole bunch of cricket stuff which doesn't normally get covered here - not just the women's game. Personally, I wouldn't mind reading a good blog about women's cricket, but only if the blogger had a genuine enthusiasm for the women's game.

Hey, Jess. Guess what. Easy solution. If you don't like the content, then don't look at it! No-one is forcing you. Go and find a website that doesn't offend you and let everyone else alone. It's not sexist - the sexism is in your mind.

Women's cricket isn't as big as men's. Fact. I work for Cricinfo, and take *very* seriously all aspects of cricket; women's, men's, and the minor countries. I run this blog, for example, with my boss.

So don't accuse me of ignoring women's cricket. I might not write about the women's game an awful lot here, because I don't find it particularly interesting and I'm perfectly entitled a) to that opinion and b) to write whatever I wish.

Case closed, sorry.

"Calm down"

No! I refuse.

"You yourself would like to see “pictures of half-naked boys as well.” Double standards?"

Not at all. You post about men's cricket all the time - 'tis a cricket blog, duh. But the only acknowledgement of women is pictures of hotties. So, either posts about women's cricket, or pictures of gratuitously-scantily-clad men!

So there.

Just be grateful that I didn't actually post what I wrote initially.

Clearly you have no sense of humour. Here's what I said initially:

Dear God, what levels I have sunk to. I promise, one day, I’ll resume writing on this blog and not swearing profusely. Or posting pictures of massively attractive bok women.

This ought to have implied the off-topic nature of the post, as well as my finding the photos funny and amusing. And yes, attractive. Not sure what's wrong with that, but if you don't like my attitude then I apologise. Those that know me will be finding this all very amusing, as am I!

Sorry - you don't see the problem with this? F***ing hell, we have further to go than I thought. I could spell it out for you, using very short words that I'm sure even a bunch of chauvinist pigs would understand, I suppose. But really, I thought you were better than this, Will.

I had a look at the flickr page (purely out of interest in the South African cricket game, of course). What's clearer from other angles (among other interesting things) is that those white socks they're wearing are actually miniaturized leg guards!
