Lesser batsman than Lee have been called all rounders. I guess it comes down to what we classify as an all-rounder these days. Lets just remember ponting has been looking like a tail ender most of this series and he’s the most in form batsman in the world, so i think Brett Lee making a half century in one of the few real oppertunites he’s had for a long proper innings shows he’s close to being one.

Ouch. 5 for 22 are very fine figures, especially in one-day cricket. But for Pollock’s 46, South Africa’s eventual score would have been far worse. And I note Lee’s back to being a tailender, and not the future all-rounder Australia think he’ll become…

Dude,
The Telstra (with the roof shut and rain outside) isnt easy to bat in. I saw Pakistan defend 189 or so at this stadium. Lee is improving as a batsman. Kinda like Kapil Dev, clean striker of the ball. South Africa bowled well in patches, batted quite poorly. My fantasy of a best of three in the VB finals between South Africa and Sri Lanka in the VB finals is ground to dust.

My point is do not pick on Lee. South Africa bowled well in that phase of the match and Lee got a good ball.
