Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all my five readers. In cricketing terms, it’s unlikely 2006 can top last year for drama and thrills (and spills, Pietersen…) but you never know.

I think you are underestimating 2006. There is so much to be done and so many bases to be built on. The ICC and ACUS have to get their houses in order, amongst others. Zimbabwe still to be sorted. Will Bangladesh pull off another Sophia Gardens? Next Ashes in November. To mention just a few. So many Tests to look forward to. Cricket is such a weird game, anything can happen. 2006 will be an interesting year.

This year for me is likely to be hugely disappointing in cricketing terms, because I’m not going to be able to watch any cricket at all (except brief highlights on the news, of course) what with the ECB/Sky deal.

I’ll watch the games on the Cricinfo text commentaries!

Happy new year to both. Ben, we’ll do our best at Cricinfo this summer. I’m sure you won’t be the only one without Sky this summer, and we’ll be catering for just that, with our usual commentary, bulletins and verdicts and so forth. So stay tuned. Hapy New Year, all. I’m moving from the U.S. to France in a week. This might actually improve my chances of seeing England cricket play on broadcast tv, and maybe I’ll be able to pop up to Lords to see Middlesex or, if I can get tickets, England.

I’m surprised there was no post here about the royal honors for England cricketers. Being American, I don’t know what an MBE or OBE entitles you to, other than some extra initials.

I’m not sure the Queen went far enough. I suggest some additional honors:
