It'll be Flintoff no worries. The team prize looks competitive though. England cricket team, Liverpool FC, and the Wales rugby team have a shout too. A combination of the old boys brigade and a cricketer winning the solo prize means my money's on Liverpool.

Murray for Young Personality of the Year for sure.

Monty, if he'd won the Open or another major, maybe but not really a contender in my book.

Footballers miss out also as it's a non World Cup/Euro Champs year.

Ellen MacArthur. A definite runner up certainly after becoming the fast celeb around the Top Gear circuit last night. A superb effort!

Amir Khan? Ricky Hatton more like.

Chelsea - "Only" won the league and Carling Cup. Nothing too exceptional there.

Liverpool - They may push the Ashes hero's close in the team award given the old boy bias (Hanson, Lawro etc) inherent in the Beeb. But taking into the win in SA it really should by the Cricketers.

They'll no doubt drum up a "special" award for the Olympic bid team.

Warnie for International personality? Well I do agree and it would give cricket a clean sweep of the top 3 awards. I'll failing to think of anyone else for that one really. Tiger Woods I suppose.

There you go. No need to watch the show now. Certainly with all these awards for cricket and absolutely zero coverage on the BBC this year it'll be interesting to see what they actually show when reviewing the year. Anyone remember those embarrassing dodgy cartoons they knocked out a few years back?

i gotta admit, i think andy murray is a contender.montgomerie doesn't really deserve it. as for the team award, the only reason chelsea are doing so well is becuase they've been given laods of money whenever they needed it....its not really in the true spirit of the game.i think the cricketers will get that one

Ellen MacArthur deserves a real shot at it - breaking the single-handed round the world record is a serious achievement. But she did it in February, which is always a liability in this competition.

There are various other people who have had good years in one way or another - Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Terry, Colin Montgomerie, Andy Murray, Amir Khan - but I can't really see anyone ther than Flintoff getting it.

Assuming that the Olympic bid team aren't eligible, the only obvious competition for the team of the year are Chelsea and, particularly, Liverpool. But I'm sure the cricketers will get it.

Shane Warne for international sports personality of the year?

The only sportsmen who'll get close to him this year are frankly all the other England cricket team. Sailing and Rowing simply do not count and should be banned from contesting such awards. No Tennis freaks, Egg Chasers or World Cup/Olympic achievements to compete with, it's Freddie's to lose.

Bookies have already paid out on the result.

Do you think England will win the team of the year award?

Fred must win. By the way, am not in hiding, dear folks. Have been out doing real indoor cricket. Am so very tired. 12 hour stints on duty as a scorer at indoor tournament. Braindead now. Nuff said.
