Trescothick might fly home

By Will 5 years ago, mid-November Add your comment below

Update February 27 2006. You might be looking for this, instead.

This ‘aint good. Tresco’s father-in-law has fallen off his ladder – literally, not metaphorically, you understand. So he might be flying home.

He scored most of England’s run in the first Test, and Vaughan’s hardly put bat to ball all winter/tour. Alastair Cook, come on down!

this is not good at all. Just as England start doing well, things go wrong. Strauss thinking about his new baby as well and planning to be off.
And look at the schedule for the next Ashes tour down Under. Pure madness! If the ECB accept those dates, they should be hung, drawn and quartered.

Oh no! Hopefully it’s not too serious, for both the family’s and the team’s sake (in that order of importance, obviously).

Where did you find the schedule, Wraye? Can’t seem to find it anywhere.

going back for a death in the family or in strauss’s case for the birth of your child is very understandable. however, i am not sure if he should go back home because of his father in law having an accident. how can his presence there help? if it is really serious, i guess he might want to go back home to comfort his wife..

The schedule hasn’t been finalised yet Jess. I put up a piece at CI here:

also see Boycs on BBC Cricket. Cricket Australia want us to play 5 tests in 45 days, squeezing the Ashes inbetween the ICC Champions Trophy in November and the World Cup in March. Madness.

    Agree with you, Mani.

Big blow if he goes – will make England’s batting even further inexperienced (Ting Ting, Touch wood and Skunk have only played less then 20 tests in between them!)…Pakistan must really fancy their chances now.

And I can’t see the ECB rejecting that Ashes shcedule, they didn’t reject the one in SA earlier in the year, and that was just about as mad too.

Well my money is on Pakistan for the second test then! Thats a massive loss for England!

Well its 11:11 pm here and i ahe to be up at 5 in the morning cause i am going to the cricket tommorow! :D
I was disapointed at the lack of: “Austrlia V West Indies Second Test Day 2″ post? :( Thats a poor effort from you Will!!! ;) ;)
Well anyway Australia bowled WI out for 140 odd on day one, after the West indies won the toss and batted forst on a absoulute road! And Australia are now 0/60 in reply. So i get to go and wathc Australia knock up a quick 800 :D runs and then bowl the windies out agian for about 70! ;) ;)

I know, sorry Elliott. To be honest, I completely forgot they were playing – and it looks like another dismal performance from the Caribs. I’ll have a Day two post up in time for the start tomorrow. Could be all over by stumps tomorrow anyway! Enjoy the game, and send through some photos

Well i won’t be able to post as i will be at the game taking photos for you ;)

And by the way, i like it how you poms are already starting the hype for the next Ashes series! :D
But one thing is for sure, i would rather go and watch Aus V Eng than Aus V WI ;)

If you thought the build-up to the 2005 Ashes was big/long, you aint seen nothing yet!

Such a shame that we have such an evenly contested test on side of the world, and completely one-sided one on the other.

I appreciate Elliot supporting Pakistan in the 2nd test, but I really have to go for West Indies in the test at Hobart! Sorry Elli.

They do look in a hopeless situation at the moment though, but I have a soft spot for the under dog, here’s hoping they’ll put up a decent fight tomorrow.

It will be good for cricket if WI become a more competitive team.
