Chucking chuckers - Shabbir and Malik reported

The big news today (which depresses me - an Australia-West Indies Test ought to be bigger news, but they’ve been routed. Again) is Shabbir and Malik have been reported for chucking. Well, chucking chuckers, who’d have thunk it?

what’s this reported business all about.
if the umpires felt they were bowling illegal deliveries then they should have had the guts to call them right there and then.. if not then quit this reporting business just after they have been cleared
akhtar is also considered by some as a chucker.. his arm doesn’t bend forward.. it can flex backwards which is what give him pace.. he can’t control this flex backwards which is prob. with the new rule.. he just hurls his arm forward and because his arm can flex back more than others he gets the extra pace… a bit like a sling shot.. there are very few bowlers who would have a 0% bend

What gets me is that these two are allowed to finish the series. Now, obviously you’re innocent until proven guilty and taking out Shabbir and Shoaib would be unfair on Pakistan if they came up clean. But how come it’s only now they’ve been reported? Surely if a player has a dodgy action, it’d have come up more than once this summer already? If they had any doubts, send them to be tested well before the test matches and then no one loses out. I don’t want to see players banned at all but considering Shabbir did plenty of damage in the first test, England could rightfully be peeved if the two bowlers’ actions were found to be suspect.

No one has complained about Shoaibie’s action for a long while - he’s got a congenital disorder in his arm, can’t fully straighten it, I’ve seen it on TV, he just can’t. Bing Lee and Moli-tharan have the same defect in their arms.

Unfortunately, the umpires are limited by the system, Mani. They have 2 options on the field, first is to no-ball a chuck and then to advise the fielding captain who may then take the bowler off or not. They then have to go through the official channels at the close of play.

Had a situation like that over here last season. The capt wouldn’t take the bowler off so the ump just kept calling no-balls as he saw it and later sent a written report to the County Board. There were some big arguements though at the time. Scary!

Its very clear that Shoaib, Murali and Bret lee chuck. Since they are high profile matchwinners for the respective nations they come under the congenital defect category. The ICC is a spineless body not ready to root out chucking. It easily succumbs to pressures from the respective national associations. Its only the poor lawsons, malliks, Bothas and the ahmeds who are banned. Sadly the big sharks still play. To add on every cricket fan knows that Shane Bond is the fastest bowler preently.
