Hawaii, Hawaii…this is London calling

By Will 5 years ago, at the start of November Add your comment below

Right – hands up who reads this from Hawaii. I know you do, I can see you! If you have a look at this map, you’ll see which countries are viewing the blog…and there’s a rather significant red blob hovering over Hawaii. So speak up – please do – as I’d be fascinated to hear more about why you read it, and how you found it. On a similar note, there are people from Iceland, central Russia and Alaska; I’d love to know how and why you arrived here, and whether you’re curious cricket fans, or lifelong addicts!

i’ve noticed this on other cricket blogs as well and they seem to have spots over russia as well. maybe the wardens show the prisoners in the gulags test cricket and now they’re addicted.

Aloha – It’s a fair cop – I’ve been living in Hawaii for the past 2 years and still as addicted as ever to the greatest game in the world. Over there it was TMS, Cricinfo and The Corridor that helped me from going cold turkey. However the stats seems be from the 27th of July and I came back at the beginning of July…hmmm. I didn’t meet too many other long lost cricketers and no-one seemed to recognise the batter Gray Nicholls sun hat I traipsed around the Big Island.

    Cheers and Mahalo

Aloha Paul! So you’re no longer in Hawaii – glad the blog was of assistance, anyway :) And thanks for uncovering the mystery of the Hawaiian surfer!

I am not fascinated by the prospect of Russia ever playing cricket – not the least after the kind of affect Abramovich (spelling?) has had on Chelsea and the EPL – and hey, there are already 2/3 test playing nations whose players have abnormally weird accents and difficult names/spellings – we don’t need more of this kind or god help my English!

On the topic of blog viewers from non-cricket places, I had someone coming in from the Netherlands the other day and also from Milan.

The marvel of the internet. People can come from anywhere in the world – it’s all good.

Will, ever thought these hits might be from business people or tourists abroad and just checking the net? Just a thought.

And Zainub, you may laugh, but it tok me 2 seasons to get used to the names of some of our Sri Lankan ex-pat players – and as a scorer I have to use their FULL name! It’s going to get worse, you know. Botswana, Mail, Japan (renewed) and Slovenia joined the happy ICC family this year.

just on cricketeers names. Someone I know was claiming how cricketeer’s are not have very common names. For instance, check out the new & revitalized Indian team, Dhoni, Sree Santh, Dravid.. are not very common names…!! So its only natural they might be tough to pronounce :)
    Good luck Wraye!!1
