Right, so Hussey’s in, Langer’s out. It’s a new-look Aussie side against a young, talented but inconsistent West Indies team. Chat away.

You’re at school but you can “watch” cricket on Cricinfo? Never had that in my day! Oh woe me…

When I went to college I there was cricket hapening, SMS cricket alerts were frequently used. As was the radio (the one you get in phones, cell phones i.e.) I once got away with listening to an Ind-Pak match in the midst of a botany lecture (this stuff I slept through anyway)… head phones and mobile phones are a great invention, god bless those created them.

Morning Will!
You make a good point!
How long do you plan on staying up till?
November 2nd, 2005 at 11.31 pm
Oh not long mate, got so much on at the moment and am suffering with a hangover to end all hangovers. I’ll catch the first half-hour and then wade through the highlights tomorrow if I can.

Oh and ta for your essay/email - good stuff Elliott. I’ll reply to it tomorrow

Cheers Mate!

Windies win the toss and put Australia in! Please don’t let it turn out to be a Nasser Hussain equse howler of a decision.

I think it was a statement of intent. But frankly, I would have batted - hopefully Lawon and Edwards’ll prove me wrong

The Aussie batting line up just doesn’t seem as powerful as it once was so I suppose you could be right about it being a statement of intent.
Look at that weather though. I got soaked this afternoon just nipping out for a sandwich!

Hussey gone!
November 3rd, 2005 at 12.29 am
Hussey out. Got thought out, I think.

He looked very nervous before skying that hook shot.
Hayden playing tentatively…and now dropped.
What did we say about this once mighty batting line up!
November 3rd, 2005 at 12.34 am
Looks like the West Indies have done their homework by putting in a short mid-off for Hayden. Straight to Chanderpaul who put it down - difficult chance, but he should have gone. Hope they keep face and leave Shiv at that short position - a definate weak spot for Hayden

Mark Nicholas now on?
Does his contract with 9 expire at the end of this Australian summer?
November 3rd, 2005 at 12.47 am
You guys sounds oodly un-australian!
Is this one of those “I go for England and anyone playing against Australia” scenarios?
November 3rd, 2005 at 12.48 am
I guess so. See here maybe. That’s it for me - chat you chaps tomorrow night, same time, same place
November 3rd, 2005 at 12.49 am
Just want a decent contest Elliott
And I’m a massive fan of West Indian cricket.
November 3rd, 2005 at 1.01 am
Likewise just want to see a decent contest really. But it would be good for the World game to have a competitve Windies side again.
That’s a night for me. I predict 288 for 5 at the close/when I switch on Ceefax to see the score in the morning.

The “once mighty” Aussie batting line up may be heading for a lazy 500 the way it’s looking at lunch.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3.42 am
And an hour after lunch the “once mighty†Aussie batting line up may be heading for a lazy 250…. D’Oh!
November 3rd, 2005 at 6.08 am
This Edwards guy looks fast - I just caught him taking Ponting’s head and then his foot off. He sent four byes over the keeper’s head, but probably should have had one of the batsmen lbw. I notice the Aussie coverage didn’t go to hawkeye - do they only use it when they are feeling hard done by?
Oh, it’s going to be a long summer if I end up not supporting Australia . . .
