I’m rich. Or, I could be…

My blog is worth $46,856.82 (£26,411.47).
How much is your blog worth?
Yes, I know it’s artificial, but anyone who discredits or underestimates the value (monetarily and as a medium) of blogs need only look at what AOL paid for Weblogs Inc. $25-40m. I shudder to think the affects blogs will have on traditional media - it’s exciting. A humble cricket blog isn’t going to shake things up, but it’s fun to be apart of blogging in the “early days” (although some would say blogging has been around for years and years. It has, but it’s never been this easy.) It’s this blog’s first Birthday in a week or so…

I quite like the name Sundries, but I’ll keep the idea under consideration.
But the thing you said about the affect of blogging on traditional media William – I’d like to comment on that. I think blogs are here to complement the real stuff, not over take it (as some people predict). I can understand how tempting the idea can be for a professional journalist, not being bound by editorial constraints, by a world-limit, by a decency code- practically not bound by anything. But I still don’t think there’s any substitute to traditional forms of news. After all, just because you can get all the news in the world on the internet or the telly hasn’t stopped people from reading newspapers (at least it hasn’t had that affect on me!)… I don’t think blogs are going to change that.

Indeed. I wasn’t advocating blogs replacing traditional news sources, more affecting how they operate.

To an extent, yes. It will probably make it more exciting - kind of like the affect one-day cricket had’s on test matches.
On a totally different note, I just realised that I blab twice as much more as anyone else who is a frequent visitor here. I clearly need to exercise more self control.

Blogs are popular. Personally, I spend as much or more time reading blogs than I do mainstream media sources. Why? Because I have a collection of bloggers who I know and trust to publish good information and useful commentary. Good bloggers help you focus your internet time so that you get the most out of it. They find things that you’ll like so you don’t have to find them yourself. Still doesn’t stop you reading the Daily Rags though.

A year, wow… just had a quick trawl through the archives, mainly to see when it was that I first visited (I think mid-January). Couple of the posts are quite interesting - the first one, lauding Troy Cooley… and this one:
Can’t argue with that eh?
