  • I think those speed guns are a load of crap. Somehow the white ball goes faster - I bowled 83-84mph in the Test match, and 93mph in the one-dayers. It's crazy. I hadn't bowled a ball for ten days.

    New Zealand are crucifying Zimbabwe

Have you seen? Lou Vincent is on his way to 200. New Zealand 307/1 after 36 overs! Oh dear.

This is ridiculous. I mean, it is good to see NZ not cutting any slack, but this Zim side is the pits.

397 is a fantastic score, and on top of it, I did not realize till I saw the full scorecard that it was in only 44 overs!!! Now, that is some hitting by the Kiwis.

I just looked at the scorecard noted that it was off 44 overs, and wondered why? The thought crossed my mind that Fleming had declared, not wanting to break the world record score until I realised that it had been a 44 over match (must be a late start).

This is against a ‘full strength’ Zimbabwe, as well. Rather a pity, to be honest.

397 in 44 overs! Imagine if Chris Cairns had be able to get going!

Scott, we were talking about declarations in ODIs - and they’re not possible apparently. Not sure why it came up, but interesting nonetheless.

Stu - exactly! Vincent’s not even a power-player, not that I’ve seen him - I thought he was more a touch player. Cairns - who knows what he could’ve done…could’ve been ugly

I think any team playing against Zim for the next couple of years must play without boots, only in socks. i think this would even things up nicely without any nonsense about test status etc

they missed 400. what a pity for them. but its ok. I am loathe to see a team cross that barrier in ODIs. It must be in a fittingly charged match, though of course its unlikely.

397 was ridiculous (didn’t bother watching it) but saw 5 overs of Bond. He does have a beautiful in-dipper, which on bowler friendly conditions will knock many a stump over. However his remodelled action does look a bit odd (not illegal or anything, just odd). Let’s see how long he can go on like this.
