Another excellent shot from Charlie, picturing a very lonesome Australia at Old Trafford. For those not interested in photography, I apologise; I’m a rather tragic photography freak. Combined with my love of The Great Game, cricket photography is like a manna from Heaven!

Charlie..just a thought, this could be even more effective as a cut-out..not sure how you’d do it (isolating just the yellow Aussie) but it would look fantastic. Keep shooting and sharing (everyone).

UPDATE (August 18): And Charlie’s done it, see below. Looks brilliant!

Thanks and great idea! Now posted at Flickr. Pixel-level editing is tough on a trackpad, so just don’t look to closely ;-)

that looks excellent! Well done , Charlie!

Reminds me of last summer, when I went to Amsterdam to watch India vs Australia at the Videocon Cup. A bunch of us from Germany drove over there, ex-pats, germans and our sub-continental friends. We had tickets for the Grandstand. I wore a fetching cream summer dress and my Grantham cricket jumper (unthinking), which unfortunately has – yes – yellow and green stripes. The Grandstand was a sea of pale blue. I was heckled and jeered, but my Indian friends, bless ‘em, stuck by my side.

I confess, okay? In a rain interval, I went and bought a ODI India T-shirt.

Reminds me of the lone Aussie with a kangaroo soft toy and the Southern Cross amidst a whole lot of screaming Indian fans in the “D” Stand of Chepauk in Chennai in 2001! We had fun taunting him (good naturedly ofcourse) and he had his share of fun too. In fact he was kind enough to hand us his kangaroo and laughed when we immediately hung the kangaroo with a noose made from a handy towel and waved it around to catch the roving camera!
Have always wondered why he sat by himself where there were a huge lot of screaming Aussie blokes in another stand, which incidentally was sparsely occupied (by Indian fans, that is) given that, for most of the afternoon, the stand faced the brunt of the March sun that usually beats down on Chennai!
But he surely had his fun among all of us…
