McGrath injured – doubt for second Test

By Will 5 years ago, at the start of August Add your comment below

Glenn McGrath has been injured in a warm-up session and is a doubt for the second Test…starting in an hour. More when I get it.

09.49, he’s out of the second Test, Kasper replacing him.

He fell over in the nets and was carted off with an ice-pack on his ankle is what I heard.

This might sound stupid but I’d rather McGrath plays. I want us to beat Australia’s best XI and a victory against a McGrath-less Australia, although very pleasing, wouldn’t have quite the same resonance.

just saw it, he looked in a lot of pain. evens up things a little, I know….but I am not too happy with the laughter emanating from the english camp (and I dont mean you wraye)….I doubt if anyone was luaghing when Jones fell in Brisbane a couple of years ago…..

How huge is that?!? Does this balance the side now? This sets up the test, and the series, beautifully!

It will be fascinating to see how England react.

The top order have been focussed on how to play McGrath since the last test and now he’s out.

Lee & Gillespie will raise their performance I’m sure. It’s going to be more difficult to get the batsmen mentally prepared for a different challenge.

it looks a much different bowling attack without mcgrath i must admit. I feel as if warne will be used earlier than normal, even at this ground. We do stil have the bowlers to do the damage, though.
mark i know what you mean, when i heard vaughan was injured i told my mate that i wanted him to play. Not giving the opisistions excuses if they lose also has something to do with it, with me anyway. plus it’s not as good cricket when the best aren’t out there

Very true Harry. It’s a great shame McGrath is out – but, frankly, it gives England a much better chance of levelling the series. Which is a good thing, for all concerned, says I…
