1981 – what a fine year. Watched the Tests from the student bar at Manchester University with Old Peculiar beer at 50p a pint (strong and cheap). Just wish it could be remembered as the Botham/Willis Ashes.

Just makes you wish for a fairy tale doesn’t it? England tharshed in the first test and are in dire straits in the second. Enter Flintoff and he destroys the Aussie attack and runs through the side…makes me reminisce about that fantastic India-Australia series in 2001 and V.V.S. Laxman’s test match.
