Oh, I don’t know. Even India refused to play there (and I say even because India is a country supposedly more ‘used to’ such security concerns, whatever that may mean)…If England is adamant about not going there, I don’t see much the PCB will do about it, though you never know…
England yet to decide on Karachi

England have asked for more time before agreeing to play in Karachi during the Pakistan tour this winter. The Pakistan Cricket Board wants to stage back-to-back one-day internationals in the city, which has suffered from terrorist attacks in the recent past, but the ECB is reluctant to play there more than once. Players have been guaranteed “head-of-state level†security at all venues.
A diplomatic nightmare to ensue?

Well it has already started after Miandad’s sleezy remarks on this. I guess he is feeling powerful as his son is getting married to the daughter of a Middle East Mafia don.
My personal take on this is, whats so important about a venue? Afterall England agreed to come to Pakistan and Pakistan has a lot of good venues. If players are worried about Karachi security how can they give 100% in the game if forced to play?

Thanks God England are playing at least a one-day match here, I would have wanted to see them play a test and a one-day both ideally, but this isn’t an ideal world and something is better then nothing, so I’ll settle for this.
Karachi not getting a game would have been massively disappointing. This is the largest, arguably the most passionate, most sophisticated, most unpartisan group of cricket fans in this country the ECB were thinking about deriving the opportunity to watch their favorite game …it would have been an injustice if you ask me.
The alleged security concerns are no less big or smaller then for any other normal, modern, urban metropolis. Speaking WRT to within Pakistan at least Karachi is no more or less vulnerable then any of the other 5 cities England had no problems in playing i.e. Pindi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan, in fact one might argue it is technically safer then Faislabad and Multan. Other countries just want to make a fuss about it because the PCB has had a history of being somewhat soft on this issue, and because we’re a 3rd world country. And because other countries simply enjoy making fuss.
