Greg Chappell new Indian Coach

Beating off all his many rivals, Greg Chappell has been named the new Indian Coach. No doubt Jagadish will have something to say about this…I’m off for a few days :)

I was in favour of Whatmore :)

Whatmore, to me, seemed unfit for the same reasons as for Wright to leave now. Both have reached a standstill in their coaching creativity, it seems.

But this observation can be wrong also. What I realise is that even the good coaches are good (and the bad ones bad) in a given set of circumstances, and also with a given set of players. So Wright, a normal guy, turned out so good for India. And Whatmore may have been good for SriLanka, not for long though. And he is not good for b’desh, same way as Wright may possibly fail to turn the tide for NZ.

Also, in analysing a coaches past results, one should not loose focus on the set of players that he operated with. That is why maybe JOhn Buchanan may not be as good with Bangladesh (Marsh-Zimbabwe and Woolmer-Pakistan(first stint) are examples).

All said, I am not sure how good Chappel would be, but I am darn sure it depends a lot on the captain also. If it is Ganguly for atleast couple of years, then this is good move. Otherwise…I dont know !

‘Stagnation’ was the word I was looking for :-) in context of Whatmore and Wright.

I’ll be hugely surprised if Ganguly is not captaining the side when WC 2007 comes around. That’s slightly irrelevant to the question of coach of course. I like Chappell but he would always have coached in an environment that is receptive to his ideas, that has a terrific supporting infrastructure in place, etc. Now he’s going to have to learn to deal with the BCCI. Still, I look forward to some innovative thinking in the way India plays it’s games, not just batting/bowling orders but the general approach to the game. A jumble of initial thoughts, quite random and slightly chaotic, here.

I Want Mr.Greg Chappell to read this. The Indian One-Day Cricket Team should be as follows :
    1.Virender Sehwag (Vice-Captain)
    2.Saurav Ganguly
    3.Rahul Dravid (Captain)
    4.Sachin Tendulkar or VVS Laxman
    5.Yuvraj Singh
    6.Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Wicket-Keeper)
7.Ajit Agarkar (was an all-rounder for Mumbai)
    8.Harbhajan Singh
    9.Anil Kumble
10.Laxmipathy Balaji (very good swing bowler)
    11.Ashish Nehra

When India has to field then it should use all it’s 3 fast bowlers in the first 15 overs by making them bowl consecutively. For example,
Agarkar bowls the first over,Nehra the second and Balaji the third. This way each fast bowler
will bowl 5 overs of the first 15 overs and
the opening batsmen of the opposing team will
find it very difficult to settle down and score
quickly because of the variety involved. Then Kumble and Harbhajan should operate between the
16th and 25th over. Then Harbhajan should pair with Balaji and operate from the 26th to the 35th
over.By this time both of them will complete
their quota of 10 overs each. Then from the 36th
over to the 45th over Kumble should operate from
one end and Agarkar and Nehra bowling alternatively should operate from the other end.
By the time we reach the 46th over,we will be left with only Agarkar and Nehra having 3 overs and 2 overs respectively or vice-versa.Then we
will bowl Agarkar and Nehra alternatively for the
next 5 overs to complete the 50 overs.

The above mentioned plan makes a lot of sense,
doesn’t it Mr.Chappell.I and the rest of India
will feel extremely grateful to you if you can
put the above plan into action straight-away.

If anyone other than Mr.Chappell reads this then
PLEASE forward it to Mr.Chappell or Rahul Dravid
as i do not know the e-mail addresses of either
of them.Thank You for reading my humble opinions
about solving India’s bowling problems.Good-Bye and take care.

please forward this to MR.Greg Chappell, hi this rajendra from sydney, was watching india performing in the final, disgusting to see batsman dragging require run rate around 5 to 10, this signifies the strike rotation not really good,so when we require one batsman to rotate strike and other to hit hard to accelerate scoring rate how we can see batsman like rahul dravid and kaif at the same time and ganguly who can play spinner well, if he is down under is difference confidence than having kumble or any tail lender. so advice then to roate strike when its just 5 runs per over require.and get more all rounders who are consistent

Tell me something, r u an indian? Do u have any sence abt cricket? or R u mad? we saw ur selected team with this will not be able to win scottland cricket team. how can u compare laxman with sachin? u fuck….

    Saurav Ganguly
Ajit Agarkar (was an all-rounder for sucking)
    Anil Kumble
Laxmipathy Balaji (very poor swing bowler)
    Ashish Nehra

the above persons are totaly waste.
They are only eligible for playing blind cricket.

world record of 418 runs by westindies winning the test match can be achieved by India if they play confidently without playing the outside offstump balls and defending as far as possible to take india to a victory or draw.

This formula should be applied by every batsman playing in the squad.

This message is for the Couch and the Captain of the Indian team.

    Dear Sir
I just wanted to say everyone that the whole world thought that Indians are the one who can lie to the extent of anything. But after seeing Greg Chappel they are bound to change their views. The way he can lie to get his nasty intentions into effect,it can even put Mr Bush to shame. In fact he is also the most effect conspirator and back stabber of the century. He was theone who made his brother bowl underarm and now he has once again proved that he is alsoa cold blodded murderer. We strongl;u condemn his acts and also those puppets in his hands(Mr Kiran More) and Mr Niranjan Shah(Thoose impotent nincomoops) who doesn’t have anything to say of their own but to swing their head to the tunes of Mr Chappel.

We the whole nation would now like to see him sacked so that he can never get to insult the whole natioen(the way he did after he lost the match against south Africa in Eden Gardens in 2005)

    Hi Dravid/Greg.,

I am not sure, is this your personal e-mail ID or will this reach you. In case if this reaches you, please try your best. You are a professional and a perfectionist who will take Indian Cricket to its height.

It is very difficult to digest the defeat of Indian Cricket Team in West Indies (1-4).

The main reason for our 2nd ODI defeat, I can point out to the 3 facts as below:
Youvraj Singh missing the GOLDEN run-out chance of Sarwan when he was on 0
Raina’s attempt to run-out Bradshaw in the 49th over of Irfan Pathan, where he missed the target and brought back Sarwan on strike who went on to hit 4,4 & 6 to complete that over with 15 runs. These 15 runs proved to be tooo costly for India
I think, we should practice basic things when playing international matches. If Yuvraj Singh had standing within the crease at the non-strikers end Gyal had no chance of taking the blinder return catch of Harbajhan Singh. We see lot of Indian batsmen stand outside the bowling crease at the non-strikers end which gives great opportunity to the bowlers to field or take return catches.

I think the run outs in the 3rd ODI cost us the match. The 4th one was one sided where we could not get a flying start.

Dravid, please concentrate more on Harbajhan Singhs record in the ODI’s. He is just an excess baggage for the Indian team in the ODI’s. For sure he is a better bowler in the test matches. We always manage to take wickets in the beginning, but fail to do it in the middle overs. Even Sehwag and Youvraj can bowl 10 overs each and end up giving 40 or 45 runs same like H. Singh. The interesting point is that these 2 part time spinners will end up with couple of wickets at least. But look at H.Singh who will give the same amount of runs and end up without any wicket.
Can you show me a one instance in this series where H.Singh has made life difficult for West Indian batsmen? His deliveries are not spinning, he has no variations, he has no doosra even (when he cannot bowl his pehla, how can he bowl his doosra)!
I think, you should think about bringing someone new who can be a very good spinner for our team. Or may be we should depend on Sehwag, Yuvraj or Raina for rolling the arm to play as spinners.

The result was pathetic for Indian Team. Lara to be honest with you humiliated all Indians.

Try to bring in players like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhavan, Abid Nabi, Piyush Chawla. Encourage Munaf Patel, R.P. Singh, Sreesanth to bowl more aggressively and use the bouncer and Yorkers quite frequently.

    Wishing you all good luck!

Ask, Yuvi to play aggressively and Kaif to be more consistent. He is much better player than his records show.

Does India have an answer for Shoib Akhtar or Bret Lee??? India has not produced a fast bowler after Srinath. Many bowlers had burst into the scene, but none comes close to Shoib Akhtar or Bret lee, a bowler who can rattle opposition. India love for spin continues producing tailored wickets to win matches. It is high time we Indians produce some genuine fast bowlers. A young guy from kashmir valley Abid Nabi can generate express pace and swing. He was called to bowl at the nets when England visited India. But not heard of him since then. BCCI should give all support to guys like him to come up and let India have an answer to bret lee or Shoib Akhtar. We are tired of bowlers bowling dollies, we want to see an Indian bowler who can cart wheel stumps, whose bowl can slip through the bat and pad of the batsman to rattle the stumps before the batsman can blink??? Will Abid nabi the right answer????

Every group activity gives the best result if supported by good strategies … and India Blue lacks the same… I have a point to make …. to analyse and understand where are we making the mistake ……. Pls watch Champions Trophy Final between Australia VS XXXXXX and behave as if you are the captain of Australian Team ….. and keep taking decisions thruout the match ….. and feel the difference …. and pls do the same for few more matches wherein countries like Srilanka or South Africa are playing. We dont doubt your capabilities …. its only our strategies are not upto the mark … Im sure this make you more agreesive and will help to take more smarter and clever decisions and they all will be yours … This is no harm trying but surely will make miracles …. Can anyone help me pass this msg to Rahul Dravid and the same is in the best interest of Indian Team … GoodLuck

Suggestions for Indian Blue in South Africa first ODI, in the given batting order.

    1] Wasim Jaffer
    2] Sachin Tendulkar
    3] M S Dhoni
    4] Virender Sehwag
    5] Rahul Dravid
    6] Dinesh Mongia
    7] Irfan Pathan
    8] Zaheer Khan
    9] Ajit Agarkar
    10]Anil Kumble
    11]Munaf Patel

Players like D Mongia and Zaheer Khan should be considered on form. Players like Sehwag and Pathan need another chance in new role for their own developement as cricketers, and perhaps to strike form.

Rahul Dravid needs to bat at no. 5 unless the conditions in the middle require him to bat on top. This will give others players a chance to play freely, as they know that “The Wall” is still to come.

Please do not give the new ball to Pathan while bowling. If he gets hit upfront, it is hard for a young lad to make a comeback. Plus if he is bowled as the first change, he can read from the new bowl bowlers on how the pitch is doing, and what could be a good length to bowl.

Although Harbhajan is doing a great job in ODI, it will be a good idea still to try Anil Kumble, after this gap, to see what role he can play for world cup.

Also, please bowl yorkers in the slog overs. Even gully cricket players in India know that. It is hard to believe players at top level do not have confidence to bowl yorkers in the top level.

    Comments are welcome!

No Indian cricket team has one of the best talents in the world but they are wasting it by not playing to their potential. A “postmortem” of the team’s performance reveals loopholes and shortcomings on all fronts. Foremost was the lack of stamina, obvious from the fact that initial advantages were frittered away by conceding late goals. Solid defence, killer instinct, coordination and discipline were conspicuously lacking.

    Continue your good work.
India is not playing well and for me these are the faults.

1)Very Very Poor Home Work done by India(Blame Chappell)
    * Y Bcos…Take the case of Ntini, he is a very aggrsssive fast bowler. But he is not good against left handers.

2)Application of indias experienced batsamn is poor.

Right from my youngerdays I am a fan of you. After you have become coach of our National Team, Iam keenly watching your coaching abilities. You are really doing a fantastic job. No use of teaching a team who refuses to learn and as long as partiality is shown in selection you cannot achieve results. If you have been born in India you would have been seen as a superstar. My advice to you is not to waste your time and energy.I do know many other countries are looking for you. Did ever Chappel say to our players not to play to their potential?.You can only take horse to pond and cannot make them to drink. Sehwag, Tendulkar,Dravid are not playing to their potential. If bowling clicks, our batting fails.Dean Jones,Michael Bevan are all dropped for not performing well even though they had fantastic records. That is Australian way.Like that Tendulkar and Sehwag shoul be told to go and play RanjiTrophy matches.
