    Hampshire v Sussex highlights

To save you going to Sussex’s poorly designed, IE-only, popup-riddled website, right click here & choose Save As to see video highlights of today’s game (7MB), as mentioned yesterday. It’s worth downloading if only to see a stupendous C&B by Warne to dismiss Adams. Man, he’s got great hands! Great slipper, too.

I was also pleased to see Chris Tremlett in action. He’s the son of Tim Tremlett, ex Hampshire himself and I think was Hampshire’s coach (maybe still is). Chris is 6 foot 7″ - same as Curtly Ambrose - and is down on Cricinfo as RMF, but he looked nippier than that in the highlights. The English selectors do have their eye on him.

    Thanks for the video.

Heady days for Hampshire fans indeed but how long will it last.

You’re right about Tremlett and if we can keep him fit Warney might just help him realise some of his potential.

Is he really RMF, Martin? Looks to have more pace than that - at least, I hope so…

I think he’s held back with all of his injuries and RMF would have been a fair assessment. Certainly looks to have some more speed in the video so maybe we should be calling him RFM.

He can also bat a bit but I’m hoping that he won’t make an appearance on todays highlights from Hove.

Hope so - you have to be deadly accurate, especially as a young bowler, if you’re only up to 78-80MPH. I remember first hearing about this 6 foot 7 giant and hoping he could be an Ambrose…

Well, I think the comments about the site are unfair. You’re all enjoying the highlights so it can’t be that bad! I think it’s ambitious and to be commended. Oh, and you should know that 98% of users on the internet use IE.

That’s true enough, but only for the time being. IE is insecure and Firefox (despite recent publicity about vulnerabilities) isn’t. It is rare and poor practice these days to design a site only for IE users, which is my main complaint…especially for a commercial site

Yes, Firefox’s market share amoung bloggers and other leading edge internet users is quite high. If Sussex CCC want their website to be noted by bloggers and other critics, well they got to get with the program- there are plenty of other things to write about.

Having said all that the highlights were interesting. Warne’s catch was the pick for me, of course- but yes, I can see why English hopes have been raised by the emergence of Tremlett. Time, I guess will tell.

Oh, one more thing about the video. The music sucks. If you cant do decent sound, don’t do sound.

Even before Firefox re-introduced the Mozilla browser, when IE and Netscape took the bulk-share, developers *always* had to ensure multi-browser-compatibility. It’s no different with IE and Firefox - the Sussex site even gives random 404 “page not found” errors…useless. Anyway, Dougal’s no longer welcome from posting after his last comment, so we’ll leave it at that I think. Spot on about the music, too :)
