County season gets underway

12 hours until the official start of the summer, as far as cricket fans go, as the county season begins. It’s always an exciting time of the year, as each team starts afresh (and why wouldn’t they given the temperatures). So, tomorrow, the following bunch of misfits are due to play subject to rain or snow:
-
Kent v Cardiff UCCE
- Nottinghamshire v Loughborough UCCE
-
Hampshire v Gloucestershire
-
Surrey v Sussex
-
Warwickshire v Glamorgan
-
Derbyshire v Worcestershire
-
Essex v Yorkshire
-
Lancashire v Somerset
-
Leicestershire v Durham
The Hampshire match, at the newish & superb Rose Bowl, will get a lot of attention - captained by Shane Warne, they are this season joined by Kevin Pietersen who defected from Nottinghamshire after upsetting practically everybody. He’s apparently getting on well with Warne, but both are obviously treading water and cautious as to how much to show eachother of eachother’s talents! Barring injury, they’ll play against eachother in about 100 days for their respective countries.
It’s a bizarre yet fascinating situation…
