“Cricket” - a pet’s name?

With my Flickr fascination, I’ve been intrigued by the number of dogs, ferrets and cats that are named “Cricket.” I don’t think I could stretch that far, calling my dog Cricket, but it got me wondering. I hope to get a dog this year, or next (having for 23 years been solely a cat person), so I’ve been pondering what cricket-related names he or she could be named! Some thoughts…
Lord’s - nicknamed, probably, to Lordy
Richie / Benaud / Benny
Fine Leg!
Sensible ideas, stupid suggestions and rude alternatives all welcome in the comments…

My cricket-loving ex-housemate adopted a three-legged cat a few years back, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to call it “Leg Stump”, usually nicknamed as “Stumpy”. I still maintain this was the only reason he chose that cat.
Great blog btw, keep it up.

AKR - brilliant! “Where’s Bastard?” I could yell, whistling tunefully. “Good Bastard!! Well done” etc.
Nick, thanks for the comments. I too had thought of Stumpy, but much as you have pointed out…I couldn’t call a 4-legged friend stumpy. Or could I? It would get people thinking (”Why Stumpy? He has all 4 paws?” etc)
I’m quite keen on Hook or Hooker. “Where’s my hooker?”
