Pietersen odds on for a spot in The Ashes

In this BBC article, Vaughan gives the strongest indication yet that Kevin Pietersen will play, assuming form and fitness, against Australia in this summer’s 2005 Ashes. It’s not a great surprise, and indeed I’m “reading between the lines,” but I’d put money on him appearing at some stage. The thought of him appearing - with or without Flintoff, who’s recovering from surgery - is an exciting prospect, one which even the Aussies ought to relish. In fact, I don’t know why I said “even” the Aussies - they love a fighter and someone who takes the game to them…
