As I predicted in your c0mments a few days ago, we won it going away … mustn’t gloat. I do think this gives us the edge going into the Joburg test next week. Some of the players must be wondering what happened to what the Barmy Army calls “the mighty mighty England”. Their form has mysteriously evaporated. BTW I now rate England roughly where I thought they were before the series: on a par with us but not better. Even if our middle order looks bloody brittle at the moment.
Welcome back, England

Are we witnessing the return of England’s old, nasty, depressing habits? Both Robert Key, and now Vaughan, have played truly horrific shots and England are 111-4, “chasing” 501 to win. Bad start to the new year, but I suppose it wakes the series up a bit.

I disagree (of course). I’m perplexed and can’t explain it, but still maintain England are the better side. A lot has to do with back-to-back Tests and the lack of preparation, in my opinion. One match to warm up? I remember when touring teams had 4 or 5 beforehand!
