Enjoyable article but the same old stuff really. I refuse to be drawn into The Ashes debate this early - it’s January 1 2005 and both England and Australia have a heck of a lot of cricket to play. Mark Waugh makes some good points in his article today too.
For what it’s worth, here are the 2 sides international schedules before the first encounter - a one-dayer on June 13:
England
- 3rd Test v SA
- 4th Test v SA
- 5th Test v SA
- 7 ODIs v SA
- 2 Tests v Bangladesh at home
Australia
- 3rd Test v Pak
- VB ODI series (Aus/Windies/Pak)
- 5 ODIs v Kiwis
- 3 Tests v Kiwis
Even stevens, although the Eng-Bangaladesh could prove a banana-skin for the hosts. Meanwhile, will the man pictured above be playing against England? Doesn’t seem likely…:( Great player - hopefully he’ll play for Yorks again.
